The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
